Thursday Deadline

Well, it's down to the wire now. The Triskelion entry is due this coming Thursday. I am no where near finished. I missed a whole day of writing last week when Rune wasn't feeling well, and today I haven't been able to get down more than five minutes of writing--even as I'm writing now, Rune is in my arms. I am going to try to write late into the night tonight since Jay is off tomorrow. He'll be able to hold the baby (hopefully) while I work on this entry. If I can't finish this thing in time, I'll have no choice but to try Venus. I hate to have wasted all my time on one piece and not be able to submit it.

Another Day, Another Contest

I have been working like a madwoman, trying to complete my entry for the Triskelion contest. I am probably 50% finished. I have, er... 7 days left before the deadline. Can I make it? Will I have time to edit? *bites fingernails* Oh, how I wish I had found out about this contest earlier!

On another note, I found another contest to enter. I found the listing on Romance Divas, but the actual contest is sponsored through a different forum. The contest only requires 200-400 words, which is a plus. You create a frightening and sexy character profile and submit it. I have a unique idea for a character. Hopefully I will have time to write it out and enter before the July deadline.

By the way, my elevator scene doesn't seem like it will be a go. I haven't mentioned the scene to anyone, but I was writing about werewolves and someone sent me a link to an author that has a few romantica stories about werewolves, and I noticed in one of the listings, she mentioned the werewolf gets stuck in an elevator. Damn! Oh, well, maybe I'll write the scene anyway. It's not like it's exactly the same premise. Only the setting is the same. I'll have to think about it. :P

Venus Press

Someone at Romance Divas mentioned this e-publisher and I went to check it out. It seems really nice, and they accept shorter manuscripts. I'm thinking I may want to submit a few stories to these people. I can't think of any other e-publisher that accepts work of 5,000 to 10,000 words. It's definitely something to keep in mind.

Blogging Trauma

Arg, more blog problems. I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth the trouble. Why do my posts only show up as archives? Why isn't there a help article about it? How to I refresh my index page if the "republish the index page" feature doesn't seem to be doing the job?

I thought the blogger site to be very nice at first, but I think I may go back to aol blogging rather than suffer a case of Homer Simpson hairloss trying to get my posts to show up. :S

Write On!

Aside from my novella, I've been working on my "Sex with Style" writing contest entry for Triskelion Publishing. I've devoted as much time as possible this weekend to fleshing out the rough draft. The deadline is July 1st, and I'm only about 300 words into it, but I have a good grasp on the story...now if I could just get the baby to sleep long enough for me to accomplish something.

There is a limited genre you can write in for your entry--mine will be paranormal, which is allowed--plus a 5,000 word limit, but I seriously doubt that I'll even touch that much space. At most, I figure the story will take up 3,000 words. At this point, I have the main scene started... I know, it's not much so far, but I only heard about the a few days ago. At any rate, I thought it would be a good way to get a feel for how Triskelion works, and act as a good writing exercise in the process.

Shh! The Baby is Sleeping!

I really should be working on my werewolf novella right now since the baby is sleeping, but oh no... Here I am, starting up a secondary blog. This one I intend to use for keeping track of my writing stuff, although I know I'll probably junk it up with all those boring little tid bits from my daily life. I can't seem to help myself!

At any rate... last night while the baby was crashed out, snoozing on the bed, I popped in Underworld and thought I'd just relax. Within five minutes I was restless and hunting for my notebook. I ended up writing two whole scenes and a new opening sequence, which I like better than before... mostly because it makes more sense! :P

Note to self: I really need to get around to reading that current article on RomanceDivas.com about novella writing. It sounds like it would be extremely helpful to me, especially since that is what I'm writing now. Then again, everytime I go over there, what do I do? I run straight to the forums... Bad me.

Blog Rebuilding

Hmm... I can't seem to get my blog to work the way I wanted it to. I deleted the old one and decided to start over. Eventually I will re-add my old posts.
